- Portraits of Health (2015) new project to create short video stories on recovery with CMHC clients, staff, faculty and community supporters
- Culture of Compassion (2014) partnership with Community Mediation to enhance the inpatient environment of care through innovative and empathic communication and conflict resolution techniques
- Hill Farmers’ Market at CMHC (2010) partnership with CitySeed to offer a weekly market at CMHC to improve access to fresh fruits and vegetables (over $20,000 in financial assistance market coupons for CMHC clients in 2014)
- Centerpiece of Health/Food Transformation (2012) improving all dimensions of CMHC food service operations to provide wholesome meals, one-on-one nutrition counseling and support; and to help reduce food insecurity; includes on-site “kitchen garden” with fresh vegetables and edible flowers
- Financial Health Project (2011) partnering with the Corporation for Enterprise Development using insights from microfinance and social determinants of health to reduce financial stress and address financial dimensions of wellness and recovery
- Animal Assisted Therapy (2012) partnership with Red Skye farm and stables to provide off-site equine assisted team building experiences and on-site animal assisted therapy with clients
- CMHC Community Building Contest (2014) using democratic principles to engage the entire CMHC community to solicit and vote on new ideas to improve CMHC
- CMHC Cycles (2013) promoting increased bicycle commuting, recreation and safety through education, advocacy and facility improvements at CMHC
- CMHC ReCycles (2015) a new effort to collect and refurbish used bicycles to meet the transportation and recreation needs of CMHC clients
- CMHC Music & Art Committee (2013) improving the environment at CMHC through innovative projects in creative and performing arts
- Good Neighbor Garden (2013) partnership with New Haven Land Trust, Hill North Neighborhood Association, and Advanced Rehabilitation and Nursing to establish and maintain the Hill North Community Garden on the corner of Sylvan and Asylum streets a 2-block walk from CMHC
- Recovery Speaks (2012) persons in recovery sharing their stories with high school, college, and professional student audiences as well as clinical staff and policy-makers to promote greater understanding of the lived experience of recovery
- Innovations in Public Psychiatry (2013) research mini-grants for professional trainees at CMHC to advance new ideas and practices that improve the lives of people in recovery
- CMHC Labyrinth & Spiritual Services (2008) promoting spiritual dimensions of wellness through the use of the Foundation-funded canvas labyrinth and other resources
- CMHC Courtyard Garden (2010) partnering with NewAlliance Foundation, Common Ground & Green Village Initiative, CMHC clients, staff and volunteers growing fresh food and flowers together in CMHC’s courtyard garden.
